About us

PopMED was founded in 2020 by Erika Nerini and Daniela Longo, but its history has its roots in a shared professional journey and friendship that dates back to their university days.

PopMED has set itself a major challenge right from the start: to combine expertise in medical and scientific outreach and communication, capitalising on the complementary strengths of its two founding partners.

The founders’ personal and professional values are also PopMED’s values: accuracy, a proactive approach, customer focus and punctuality.

Enriched by the contributions of trusted partners, the PopMED team stands out for its creativity and solid technical, scientific, interpersonal and communication skills, which ensure quality and accuracy in every project, even when time is tight.

At PopMED, you’ll find people who embody these values and specialise in specific areas.

Daniela Longo

Three adjectives I’d use to describe myself are creative, communicative, and always on the go.

As a child, I loved reading and writing, but my greatest passion was science. After graduating in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, I pursued a PhD in Experimental Epileptology. As my academic career came to an end, I worked for a CRO to broaden my knowledge in the clinical field. During this time, I honed my management skills and realised that I wanted to combine my long-standing passions (science and writing) into a new career: medical writing. For five years, thanks to a partnership with a leading company, I also delved into science communication to the general public, especially families and children. As part of my responsibilities, I organized events, teacher training courses, and experimental education. I am one of the authors of the illustrated book ‘Guida Galattica al Coronavirus’. It has been translated into over 30 languages.

I love exploring and learning about innovations in health and communication. At PopMED, I use my experience and creativity every day to meet the industry’s diverse needs. I like being part of a well-run team that maintains high quality standards even in the most ambitious challenges.

An ambitious dream for a young girl: to follow in the footsteps of great women scientists and carry out memorable research. My scientific career began there. At the University of Pisa, I graduated in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology. Then, an experience abroad in the field of drug design. Eventually, this led me back to Modena to earn a PhD in Chemistry and Technology of Health Products. My encounter with the world of medical writing came about by chance. I have always been passionate about communication and felt better suited for pen and paper than for a white coat. So, I decided to specialise in Science Communication at the University of Padua.

A few years later, Daniela and I started collaborating. Having met her, I discovered new sides of science communication and, to be honest, of myself as well.

People know me describe me as thoughtful, precise, and determined. I have used these attributes in many projects and put them to work for the PopMED team and clients.

My cornerstone? Continuing professional development. Reading, getting informed, networking with colleagues, attending national and international courses: all for the sake of project success and, why not, personal fulfilment.
